ABD and Pelvic Scans are used to examine the cause of the abdominal and pelvic issues such as appendicitis, pyelonephritis, and abscesses. It is also used to detect other inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis, and liver
cirrhosis.
Procedure
- The scanning procedure begins with positioning the patient on the CT exam table. Straps and pillows shall be given to position the patients properly as body motion can cause blurring that degrades the image quality.
- The next step is where IV is hooked up and the technician explains the entire process to the patient. Once everything is ready, the patient is moved toward the gallantry. At this stage, the patient is guided on the breathing part.
- The technician starts the machine that moves around the patient. After the scanning is over, again the examining table is moved backward.
